I was born Karen Danielson nearby in northern Illinois and lived around here all but 3 years of my long life. I have become a bit of a jack-of-many-trades. Like most women I spent plenty of time cooking, gardening, sewing, and decorating on a tight budget. I dabbled in several hobbies and crafts. I just HAVE to be busy.

Since I first learned how to use computers, I was fascinated by them. I was planning to be a chemistry lab technician. I finally finished my degree in computer science when I saw how elegant computers were and how fast IT was revolutioning the world. I spent a couple of decades writing scientific lab software and supporting computer systems in the pharmeutical industry.

Now I mostly use HTML and work on websites for fun and profit. As an old programmer who watched the Internet and PC's develop during my corporate career, I am still thrilled to help neighbors and friends with their PC's and work on websites - my own and others.

My first website was for my family, sharing pictures with one of the first digital cameras and a scanner. I used to have it password protected, but the family has "lightened up" since and allowed me to remove the restricted access. I haven't bothered changing the older pages where I experimented with some outdated HTML features and crazy colors, but HEY, it was for my family! You can check it out at MuellerWebsite.com.

My family will notice that I can now conserve webpage space with an Image Gallery Javascript. I used it in Running in Garden, and these photos are of my own gardens.

Furniture-Shop-Online.com is a Home Decor website with Inexpensive Decorating Ideas and Feng Shui Tips. I know there is a lot of competition online for decorating sites, so I mostly publish new decorating articles which have become somewhat famous lately (Thanks!)

CoolGamePlace.com is full of free PC games and game reviews. At my last check, it was visited by well over 3000 Internet users per month. I offer a little PC technical support there because I find so many people who are afraid of using their PC's to play games. That is partially because there are too many game websites that include spyware and popup ads that can be darnright scary. I keep CoolGamePlace.com clean from spyware and safe for children. In fact, I even added reviews of childrens gamesites, since my grandchildren play on them all the time. I know it's definately helped their technical development, plus THEY HAVE SO MUCH FUN too!

PlanBreview.com is an Internet Business Control Panel - with Reviews and How-to's for Starting your own Internet Business with a focus on helping you AVOID getting SCAMMED. When I first wanted to start my own Internet business, I was amazed at all the empty promises and scams that are pushed on people. While I expected some of this, I was still taken a few times as have some of my friends and family. I just HAD to react by putting this website together to help everyone AVOID SCAMS and realize what they could expect when starting an Internet business. (It's not as easy as most of those testimonials and promises make it out to be!)

MyMinisites.net provides FREE step-by-step guides to learn to "WEBMASTER YOURSELF". I wrote "ALittleHTMLGuide" I included plus a free template so you can learn to program enough HTML to build a website yourself with no programming experience.

PlainLanguagePlace.com is our financial website, focusing on Understanding Investing and Personal Finances - in Plain Language. Most of the content is provided by my husband, Ken, the market watcher.

I am trying to grow sunflowers (mini mostly) for my nephews wedding in Sept. They are just starting to bloom(Aug). Should I be taking off that first top bloom? And if so do I let it bloom then take it off or take it off as a bud? I am hoping these are going to last til then. They are just starting to bloom. Thanks for any advice you can give!"

->"I would leave the top bloom alone for now, but when the yellow petals drop, then cut it cleanly off above the next joint/bloom. In fact, by the end of Sept, you may need to cut a few off. This, of course, is assuming you have the "wild" sunflower with blooms on each branch. You should already see the secondary flower heads starting, if you have the wild type. ---- I hope you have the wild type, because the single head sunflower won't work. GOOD LUCK!"
